First Flight: Setting-Up the Drones

Unboxing

The drones come out of the box practically ready-to-fly, although you will need to ensure that you charge the battery before flight.

There are two hulls with the AR.Drone: an indoor hull and the outdoor hull. When you are starting out it is generally a better idea to fly with the indoor hull, as that has protection around the rotors. This is useful for safety (in case you run into something or someone, as you are getting used to the flight controls) and it also protects the rotors in case of a crash.

Connect the battery to the drone and you should see all the LED lights on the motors turn on. The motors will beep and move slightly as they boot-up. All the LEDs should be red, indicating that power is connected.

It is recommended that you also consult the Quick Start Guide and User Guide for the AR.Drone 2.0 which contain more information.
